BIOSTIMULATORS
Today much is said about the use of biostimulators to boost collagen production by the body. What happens is that, over the years, especially from the age of 30, the production of collagen in our body decreases and we begin to feel the signs of aging. Wrinkles, thinner hair and facial sagging are just some of the consequences of this reduction in our body. That's because collagen is a protein that makes up connective tissue and is one of the main substances responsible for skin support and firmness.
Aging itself is a natural process and there is nothing wrong with that, of course. However, the effects of time can be a cause of discomfort and, thus, many people look for treatments that can help them in this process.
Thus, one of the most popular options for mitigating the loss of collagen in the body is precisely biostimulators.
What are biostimulators?
Biostimulators are injectable substances that stimulate the body's own cells (fibroblasts) to produce collagen. The great advantage is that these substances are biocompatible and bioabsorbable, that is, they do not harm the body and are absorbed without harming the body.
Currently, among the best known are polylactic acid, calcium hydroxyapatite and polycaprolactone. Check out how each one acts in the body:
– Polylactic acid (Sculptra®): allows the restructuring of the skin and underlying tissues and thus combats sagging. The acid can be used both on the face and other areas such as the neck, chest, arms, abdomen, legs and buttocks. The procedure smoothes tissue damage caused by natural aging, correcting skin thickness and redefining facial and body contours. It is not recommended to use polylactic acid around the eyes and lips;
– Polycaprolactone (Ellansé®): it is water-based with polycaprolactone microspheres, promotes instant filling and stimulates collagen production. It is an extremely versatile biostimulator and indicated for the treatment of different regions: forehead; cheekbones; chin; temples; Chinese mustache and jaw;
– Calcium hydroxypatite (Radiesse®): the substance acts both as a biostimulator and as a filler. It is indicated for filling areas of the face where there has been loss of structure, in addition to body areas, such as the hands. In other regions of the body such as abdomen, buttocks, thighs, etc., calcium hydroxyapatite is used to improve skin quality and reduce sagging.
How are biostimulators applied?
Biostimulators are injected into specific and careful points of the face and body, which makes the results natural and harmonious. The product is injected with cannulas or microneedles in the deep dermis, in fat tissues and in the proximity of bones. Right after application, it is possible to notice its benefits, and the improvement process continues over the months, since the body itself is stimulated to produce collagen, favoring the youthful appearance of the skin.
