MICRONEEDING

Microneedling is a procedure that consists of microperforations of the skin with thin metallic needles. Its principle is similar to that of acupuncture, however, localized and multiple, producing an effect only in the treated area. Its most prominent result is the induction of collagen and other natural fibers in the skin, as well as the thickening of the epidermis. The technique can be done by rollers (most common), electric pens or stamps. It is always important to observe if the material used is authorized by Anvisa for use, and if the needles are sterile. Under no circumstances can these be reused, even on the patient himself.

The most popular technique is the minimally invasive one, in which the procedure is performed only with an anesthetic cream. In the surgical technique, microneedling is performed more intensively and with the patient anesthetized in a surgical environment. Usually, the minimally invasive technique offers results after a sequence of applications at regular intervals (commonly monthly), while the surgical technique can already offer visible results in just one session.

To perform Microneedling, the patient must not have tanned skin or present local infections. Skin cancer in the treated area or nearby also contraindicates the technique. Recovery is usually quick, even in cases of surgical technique.

Recommendation

The main indications of microneedling are: scars, especially acne, stretch marks, aging and sagging, baldness, melasma and drug delivery in general.
